
Getting your dream job by clarifying your career goals
Landing your dream job does not happen by chance, instead, you must know what you want and then you need to find the opportunities that get you there. A dream job is a job that satisfies and fulfils you, some people`s dream jobs are jobs with high salaries and wedges, meanwhile, other people`s dream jobs are those that involve making an impact to your society and helping others.
The first step to attaining your dream job is to evaluate your goals and know what you have to do to attain those goals. Start by defining your goals, make your goals clear and achievable, determine what interests you and what satisfies you. Today we look at all the exercises you need to go through in order to set clear and defined goals on your way to your dream job.
Know yourself
The first exercise is knowing yourself, knowing who you are as a person will help you set clear goals that land you, your dream job. Think about what pleases you the most and what you are good at and what you are not good at. Consider your personality as a person, where you want to be now and what you want for your future. These are all the questions you should ask yourself to gain light on who you are as an individual.
Consider your passion
Take a step back and consider your interests, what fuels your passion and get you going. You can take a look back to your school years, what courses you enjoyed and what courses you were good at. Also, take a look at your hobbies and other non-work-related activities, this will help you find your true passion. A job you are passionate about is your dream job, you won’t get bored with it.

Assess your personal values are the things that are important to us, they influence our decisions, actions and everything we do. Working at a company that has values parallel to yours will not make you happy. Consider your ethical stance when setting goals and looking for a job that satisfies you. Set goals that are aligned with your personal values, this will make setting achievable goals easy. Evaluate Your skills the last exercise is to determine the skills needed to get your dream job. Evaluate the skills you have already and what skills you want to develop. Skills can come from experiences or academically gained skills, figure out what you have to do to gain the necessary skills to attain your set goals.
After having done all these four activities now get to set your preliminary goals. All these activities will help you set clearly defined goals that will let you know what you need to do to get that dream job of yours. After every month track your progress, find out what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong, adjust accordingly and be a step closer to your dream job.
